SLCCO’s Educational Awards Program helps put students on the right path through scholarship grants. Students in Junior and Senior Secondary Schools, or those who plan to enter Junior Secondary School, can apply for the scholarships, which are awarded annually on a competitive basis.

Information for applicants

Each year, Sierra Leone Club of Columbus Ohio will award scholarships to eligible students in Sierra Leone. These awards are designed to identify and honor exceptionally able Junior and Senior Secondary school students, as well as to help offset the cost of education. SLCCO Scholarship Committee administers the program, and winners are selected by impartial educational experts from the organization. Each award will be allocated during the applicant's school attendance as follows:

First Academic Year

Le, 300,000.00

Second Academic Year

Le, 300,000.00

Third Academic Year

Le, 300,000.00

All completed application materials must be submitted to the SLCCO scholarship Committee by the Last Monday in July.

Eligibility

Applicants must in Junior or Senior Secondary school, or are planning to enter Junior Secondary school in the upcoming academic year. Students who receive full scholarship awards from other sources are not eligible to participate in this program. In addition, a child of a current member of the SLCCO is not eligible to receive an award.

Required application materials.
The following materials are required to complete the application process:

(1) Information Concerning Applicant Form. Print a copy of the Information Concerning Applicant form. This form is to be completed by the student who is applying for the scholarship. The completed form must be submitted to the SLCCO scholarship Committee by the September7,2009. Mail completed form to:-

(2) Recommendation for Scholarship. Print a copy of the Recommendation for Scholarship form. Give a copy of the form to the student's principal or headmaster. The completed form must be submitted directly to SLCCO from the Secondary school by September 7, 2009.  Please do not provide supplementary application materials beyond the required information listed above.
